I can’t believe we are getting close to summer already! I feel like it was only yesterday I was still working on Christmas cards, and then Spring just flew by so fast. I have exciting news in today’s post! I am joining the design team over at Create-a-Smile, and also sharing with you a card made with their new Beach Party Kit that will be available this Saturday, May 14th!

The Beach Party Kit comes with a lot of fun pattern paper, stickers, sequins, stamp set, and dies. Everything you need to create some fun summer cards. I just can’t get over how cute that little rhino is!

This set really got me excited for summer, and being in California, summer means more fun times at the beach! So I wanted to create a fun scene with our rhino snorkeling in the ocean on a bright, sunny day out on the beach. I used an assortment of distress inks for the sand, the water, and the sky. My rhino and accessories are colored in with copics and I also did a little dot coloring to add some sand grainy texture.

I used the sentiment “Fun in the Sun!” from the Simon Says Stamp Pool Play set, some stitched frames from MFT Blueprint, and the Lawn Fawn waves die to create a stencil out of acetate for use in my blending. As a last touch, I also added some wink of stella on the pail, shovel, and his snorkel gear which may be difficult to see in the photos.

Beautiful card! I love the use of dot colouring for the sand along with the stitches-looks fats. Thanks for the tips.
