Hello! We’re onto stage 3 of Anna’s CASometry challenge, and I’ve been just going through all the animals in the Forest Friends stamp set that I chose to use for the entire challenge. For this stage, I decided to use the owl, and I actually ended up with 2 cards because I wasn’t happy enough with my first one.
For my first card, I created a moon with distress inks. Because I was trying to keep it CAS, I blended in a partial sky and limited the scene to just the top right. I added a faux wood panel to the left, by stamping a wood background stamp in white onto carmel colored card stock.
I loved my ombre purple owl and how the moon turned out, but something about the layout wasn’t clicking for me so I decided to give it another try. I went for a looser look the second time around, and painted a “night sky” by paint dry brush strokes of light and dark blue. I painted my owl in the same colors.
I die cut out some small stars out of black cardstock, and also stamped/die cut the sentiment. I added a few splatters and die cut a stitched rectangle.
I loved this one much more, and it felt more “right” to me. Hope you enjoy today’s post!
