Aloha kakahiaka (good morning)! Today I’m on the Create a smile blog sharing a bright, Hawaiian themed card. It’s summer and there’s been a heatwave going on in California. After seeing Addicted to CAS’s current challenge Aloha, I was daydreaming an island paradise vacation.
For today’s card, I stamped my images from Aloha Spirit in dark magenta for the flowers and dark green for the leaves. I didn’t want to do any no-line coloring, but I also didn’t want stark black lines on my images. So I decided go with shades just a bit darker than what I planned on coloring them in with. Then colored each image in with copic markers.
What really helped these images pop are the white gel outlines and details. It really adds a lot of character to the coloring. I also wanted to create a slight “messiness” to the look so I added some black splatter. I stamped the sentiment “aloha” in black, and used spotlight diecutting with a double stitched circle to add attention to our sentiment.
I hope you enjoy today’s inspiration! highlight a more defined step-by-step tutorial on the Create a smile blog. Enjoy!
