Papertrey Ink’s first new kit, Modern+Marbled designed by Kimberly Crawford, is jaw-dropping gorgeous! I don’t think you can find another kit as classy as this one, and there’s nothing not to love about it. This is the last day of featured posts for this kit if you’ve been following along Nichol’s blog and there has been tons striking projects along the way, so I hope to continue the trend!
If you’re just tuning into this new release, I’ll give you a short rundown. As I mentioned earlier, this is the first of its kind kit from the Sincerely Yours series. The goal of this kit was to create something classy and elegant, and it has no doubt achieved it! To me, there are two stars in the kit, the marbling stamp pattern and the combination with Nuvo Gilding Flakes. However, the kit in its entirety brings together all you need to create truly beautiful cards with minimal effort, which is the best thing about buying kits!
I’ve designed by card today using primarily items from the kit, and Color Basics Add-On Kit, which includes Soft Stone, Sweet Blush, and Stamper’s Select White cardstock and ink cubes. I used the color scheme from the add-on and built a modern feminine look. To start, I used the marbling patterned stamp on my background several times with Worn Lipstick distress ink and some water misting. The wet stamping technique works so beautifully with this stamp, and helps with creating slightly more variations in the pattern. I stamped multiple times, switching up the direction of the stamp each time.
Next, it’s all about that hexagon pattern. I drove my focal point into the bottom left where I planned to place my sentiment and built layers of hexagons. First, I die cut the largest hexagon shape out of Soft Stone cardstock and the middle hexagon shape directly out of my background. Using the large piece, I laid it flat onto my card and used my Nuvo Glue Pen to outline it. I then covered it up with the Nuvo Gold Gilding Flakes to create a gold hexagon outline.
The Soft Stone large hexagon was adhered directly onto the marbled background, and the smaller marbled piece was adhered with foam tape over that, aligning the left side edge.
I die cut the words ‘thank you’ from some white cardstock scraps. I use my glue pen to get full coverage over the words so I can adhere the gold gilding flakes. I brushed it off with my fingers at first to remove the large pieces, and then with a stipling brush to clean it up.
On Sweet Blush cardstock, I heat embossed the second line of the sentiment ‘ever so much’ in gold. I trimmed it down to a strip and to the width of my large hexagon, and adhered it to my card. And finally, I attached my sentiment with glue. I just adore the how the gold gilding looks — like an antique gold finish, not too reflective, but still shiny and classy.
I had a lot of fun with this kit (especially since it was my first time playing with gilding flakes)! The kit is available now in the Papertrey Ink store.
