Hi there! Welcome to my stop in the Altenew New Day Card Kit Blog Hop! If you’ve been hopping along with us, you should have arrived here from Yoonsun’s blog, however you can always find a full list of the blog hop participants listed below.
Just as the title of this blog hop indicates, this post is all about the Altenew New Day Card Kit! This kit is absolutely gorgeous and so unique. I was so in awe of all the pieces of this kit when I received in the mail.
My absolutely favorite part of the kit is the Altenew 6×6 Reflection Paper Pad. I think it’s the most beautiful set of paper pad I have ever seen and there were several pages in this book that were so pretty that I wanted to frame it on its own. So of course, I had use some of my favorites in this pad to create my cards for today’s hop.
My very favorite sheet in this paper paid is this turqouise water colored florals, butterflies and hummingbird. The kit also comes with this stunning, intricate frame die that was perfect go along with the gold mirror card stock in the kit. Totally wow right?! It even cut so easily and cleanly, which goes to the quality of the die too. I used this same die again on Lagoon Cardstock (also found in the kit). I heat embossed my sentiment from the exclusive stamp set in the center of the rectangle which I inlaid into the frame.
Funny enough the last detail I added to this card was a happy accident. We all love those right? When I was trimming down my pattern paper, I accidentally trimmed too much of it vertically. When I was laying all my pieces together, I realized having that a slim area at the bottom actually added a nice accent to the card. So I used a small detail stamp from the exclusive stamp set in the kit to create a black and white background at the bottom. The frame and sentiment was lastly adhered to the card with foam tape. I really love how it all came together!
This next card was also created with primarily the contents of the kit. I pulled out this other absolutely gorgeous paper from the pack and was intially hesistant to do too much to it at first, but I took a bold move and stamped the florals from the exclusive stamp set right onto it in black. The black images stood out sharply against this colorful background. I wanted to do this to ground my sentiment towards the bottom.
I heat embossed my sentiment in white onto the Apple Red Card Stock, also part of the kit, and trimmed a thin strip. I adhered this to the card with foam tape. Then I used the New Day Card Kit Enamel Dots to add some final touches to the card. Easy peasy!
I’m very happy with how beautiful and quickly it was to make these cards and with just the contents of the kit. The only thing I used that was mine was the Versamark ink, black ink, and embossing powders, which I’m sure you all already own as part of your basic supplies.
