Hi! Welcome to my stop of the Altenew September 2017 Release Blog Hop Day 2! If you’ve been hopping along with us, you would have arrived here from Virginia’s blog, however if you’re joining us just now, you’ll find the full list of blog hop participants at the bottom of this post. Now let’s continue the fun!
This is the beginning of a lot of holiday products, and Altenew has brought in tons of holiday stunners! For me, holidays is all about creating mass producing designs. So for my first project, I came up with a 3 card set using the Night Before Christmas Stamp and Die set. This is a sentiment set, with two of the sentiments that are written onto a Christmas tree silhouette. I was intially planning to do some ombre setting with this fun image, but then decided to come up with a design using various scraps of green card stock. I had 5 different green colored card stocks all A2 sized, which I heat embossed the image in gold in different positions horizontally on the paper. With the held of the MISTI, I was able to keep the tree stamped in the same vertical position for all 5 times.
Once I heat set the gold embossing, I stacked the pieces together and used a paper trimmer to cut all of them at once into 5 strips in various proportions. Now, each strip can align the entire image at varying widths. So for my first card, I retained the varying widths of the strips to create a modern look.
I adhered the various pieces with foam tape and for a finishing touch, I added tons of splatter with white, green, and gold watercolors.
Next, I used the same aligning of the tree, but this time trimming down the papers in an even rectangular shape. I adhered this with foam tape onto a kraft A2 base and finished it off with splatter.
For my last card, I aligned the strips once again to recreate the tree image, but this time I used the coordinating die to die cut the tree. I adhered this with foam tape onto a kraft A2 base and surrounded it with watercolor splatter. Not only did I get to use up my scraps, I already have 3 cards done!
I also want to share with you another project featuring the Winter Rose stamp set. This a layering stamp set, and there’s no doubt that Altenew knocks these out of the park! Lately I’ve been really obsessed with buying clothing with a lot of large floral patterns. Not that this is anything new, but I thought I was inspired to use this stamp set to create a background. And as I creating this, I was thinking, I feel like Yana! She is sooo inspiring! I stamped the various roses in Starlight, Turqouise, Tide Blue, and Sea Breeze inks. The leaves are stamped in Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades inks.
I dug through my Altenew stash of supplies and found Fenstone Decorative Elements that I bought over a year ago! I used this behind my ‘hello’ die cut sentiment from the Envelope Liner Die Set. The top layer of the ‘hello’ was gently ink blended with Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades inks. I die cut the ‘hello’ again out of black craft foam for the added thickness beneath it.
For my secondary sentiment, I picked one out of the new Happy Holidays Stamp Set and heat embossed it in Pure White Crisp onto Jet Black card stock. I trimmed it down and slanted the edges to match the italic font of the ‘hello’. As a final touch, I added a few gold watercolor splatters onto the card. Splatter is like my personal preference version of sequins or enamel dots. Just a touch for spontaneity and interest!
