Hi there! Flora & Fauna recently released a beautiful collection of holiday stamps and I had the opportunity to work with a few of them. I love their stamps! They have a modern, sketchy style to their illustrations, which makes them so unique. Today I will be featuring the Winter Aviary stamp set in my project.
The birds in this set caught my attention immediately. They are so adorable! The solid images of the leaves gave me the idea to create a faux watercolor wreath. I first drew a circle in pencil onto a piece of watercolor paper to serve as a guideline. Then with various green distress inks and stamped the leaves along my circle to create the wreath. Since distress inks activate with water, I was able to go back with a wet brush to create a faux watercolor look.
I stamped my birds in black hybrid ink and colored them with copic markers. I also used a white gel pen to create some interest in the bird’s details. I fussy cut them individually. I stamped my sentiment in the middle of the wreath and adhered my birds on the wreath with foam tape. To give it a bit of a rustic Christmas kind of look, I blended Vintage Photo distress ink to the corners of the card as a final touch.
Hope you enjoy today’s special post! I have more to share with you soon! 🙂
