Adventure is calling! Its Day 3 of the Neat and Tangled September Release Week! Today we are showcasing Miriam’s new set called Landscape Textures. This is such a unique and fun stamp set!
When I first saw this set, I knew really wanted to create a map of some sort, but I didn’t quite know how to execute it intially. But after some thought and a little experimenting, I found the perfect combination! I first blended a very light blend of brown and blue distress inks using Rice Paddies stencil. Then I began using the landscape texture stamps on top of this to create my map. Here I used various Distress Oxide inks, as I knew how opaque these inks are and how they can stand out on top of the lightly blended background.
I used a sentiment from an older stamp set called Topography. This set has various fitting sentiments for this background, but I ended up choosing the large font ‘Adventure is Calling’. My sentiment was heat embossed in copper onto kraft card stock. I can’t help but also add a little cuteness to my design, so I stamped the kitty from another older stamp set called Yo Ho Ho. Isn’t the cat so cute with the spyglass?
Before I put everything together, I frayed the sides of the background and my sentiment and added a litle bit of browning with Vintage Photo distress ink to everything to create a more rustic look. Then I adhered my sentiment and kity with foam tape to finish.
