Papertrey Ink January Release Day 2

Welcome back to Day 2 of the Papertrey Ink January Release! I know many of you were dying to see the full feature of these adorable fluffy birds set from Betsy called Brushed Birds, and the beautiful dogwood flowers set from Lizzie called Warm Regards. I’m sharing a pair of cards featuring these new products with you today!

Let’s start with the fluffy birds! How cute are they? I started by die cutting many, many birds and started stamping each of the layered images (3 layers total).  I think I stamped more than 20 of them for fun and just trying out different combination of colors on the birds. But for today’s card, I settled on picking the ones that I stamped with Sweet Blush, Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, and Honey Nut. You can see that I used Honey Nut to add some shading details on the edges of the bird (more on the bottom) by sponging on the ink. And I used Cocoa Bean for the feet, eyes, and beak. I used the whole family of birds in my card.

I needed a place to sit them, so on my white card stock, I stamped the branches from the Beautiful Berries: Spring at the bottom in Cocoa Bean, and the leaves in Prairie Grass. I forgo stamping the berries since it’s still winter! I also wanted to add a little color to the sky above, so I used my trusty mini ink blending tool to blend in some Broken China Distress Oxide inks. I blended around the birds to give it a glowy look and sprinkled a little water for distressing.

I used the sentiments in the Brushed Birds stamp set. I stamped the ‘serenity’ in Blueberry Sky and the second portion of the sentiment in Cocoa Bean. I always love it when the sentiments have different fonts to emphasis a word! As much as we may not want to have to make sympathy cards, I thought this was perfect to have on hand .

Next up is my card featuring the Warm Regards. You may notice some similarities, as I also used Broken China Distress Oxide ink blending on this one, however the layout is a bit different. Again, I die cut my dogwood florals first and then stamped all the individual layers after.

I added an extra flower that I wanted to pop up with foam tape to give it a little variety. You can definitely give it even more flowers if you wish! I have the flowers hanging over from the right top edge over my sentiment. I stamped the sentiment in Cocoa Bean and Blueberry Sky here as well.

Both beautiful sets and I enjoyed working with both of them. You’ll definitely be seeing them return in many future projects for sure! As always, hope you enjoyed all the projects shared today and there’s still many more to share before the official release on January 15th, when all of these products will be available in the Papertrey Ink store. Be sure to tune in!

Cheers,

Supplies (Note: New January Release products will be added to the list on Jan. 15th)
