Let’s begin the countdown to the Papertrey Ink January Release! It’s quite nice to shift away from holiday crafting because it lasts for a good 2-3 months as a designer. This release is filled with so much variety, that was very refreshing and fun to work with. I have two exciting projects to share with you, one featuring Lexi’s Fiesta Flag Birthday and the other featuring her Hinged Gift Card Box!
Let’s start with the birtday card! There are 3 new products used here: Fiesta Flag: Birthday stamps, coordinating dies, and cover plate. I started by die cutting the cover plate out of white card stock. I punched out all the little pieces except the tiled floor/table. I simply used some tape behind it to ensure none of them fall out. This cover plate is so exciting already that I went for a simple blended background using Broken China and Cracked Pistachio distress oxide inks.
I then die cut the cake stand, cake, candles, and banner out of white card stock, and then stamped the images. The stamped image covers the entire die piece so the white border around it is minimal or none! These coordinate exactly with the cover plate, but if you want to stamp directly onto the cover plate, that works too!
I simply adhered them over the designated areas with foam tape just for their extra depth and interest. And just like that, I have a quick and easy birthday card done. The products did all the work for me. Thanks Lexi!
Next, I have the new Hinged Gift Card Box die. I’m totally obsessed with this one for multiple reasons. First, I love this little box because it is very well designed and easy to put together. It fits a gift card just perfectly, and what I love the most about it are these word die windows. There are two of them, one for ‘enjoy’ and the other ‘for you’. They are sized perfectly for this gift card box, but it is also great to use on cards (which I’ll show you in a future post!). With this window, you can put acetate behind it so that you can see into the box, you can add a color background like I did here, or you can die cut it separtely and lay it on top of the box. I’m sure I’ll find some even more creative uses with it!
I die cut the box out of Sweet Blush Bitty Big paper. It didn’t even occur to me when I picked it out, but the double sided designs of these paper work REALLY well with this die because the other side of the paper shows too! Don’t you love how there’s mini polka dots in the box and big polka dots outside of it? It’s adorable. Here I have a picture of what it looks like open.
Another feature that I love about this box is the flap. I love the design of it and fits nicely into the slit to close. I have my gold starbucks card in there to show the comfortable fit. I also decorated the box with some of Farmer’s Market Florals just for a little feminine touch. This box is perfect for all occasions: birthdays, thank yous, holidays, etc. So versatile!
I hope you enjoy all the projects shared today and I do have a couple more to share with you tomorrow before the official release on January 15th, when all of these products will be available in the Papertrey Ink store.
