Altenew Build-A-Flower: Peony Blossom Release

Hi there! I’m excited to be joining Altenew this month in their release of the newest Build-A-Flower: Peony Blossom! These monthly releases of Build-A-Flower are some of the most beautiful collection of flower stamps/die combos that they have to offer and this month’s peony blossom is gorgeous amongst the rest of them.

The Build-A-Flower: Peony Blossom set includes 1 stamp set (15 images) and 1 coordinating die set (8 dies). Contract to the conventional Build-A-Flower sets, the dies for this set cut right at the edge of the imagers, leaving no white border. It is designed to be stamped, die cut, layered, and shaped to create a dimensional flower. In fact, I created the dimensional flower for the previous month’s release of the Sakura Blossom. However, this time around, I decided to stick to my 2D card design and create a vintage-esque card.

I was particularly fond of the details on the flower petals and I recently purchased the Altenew Coffee Break Oval set that I am a bit obsessed about. I love brown tones, so I easily fell in love with these inks. Using the Sand Dunes, Rocky Shore, and Mocha dye inks, I stamped these peonies onto a white card, leaning towards the left side. Once that was all done, I used the Mocha dye ink to brown the edges of the card.

On a separate piece of white cardstock, I blended Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans distress oxide inks and die cut the ‘you’ from the Envelope Liner Die set. I die cut ‘you’ three more times out of just white cardstock and layered it behind for thickness. Next, I heat stamped ‘make me happy’ that I plucked from the Floral Drape stamp set in Versamark ink onto Turqouise cardstock and heat embossed it in white. I trimmed it down to a think strip and cut one edge at an angle

Before I adhered the sentiments on, I decided to splatter Salty Ocean distress oxide ink onto the card. The splatter brought a little more cohesion of the strong blues from the sentiment and the rest of the card. Then, I adhered the sentiment over the peonies coming from the left edge.
