Hi there! It’s Day 3 of the Papertrey Ink February Release countdown! I hope ya’ll been enjoying all the fun daily challenges and loving the release as much as we do sharing these projects with you. There are been so much hard work behind the scenes that it is just so much joy seeing all the reactions and feedback during this time, so thank you for sticking around! There are a few new February featured in today’s project, but the star of the show is Betsy’s Lilies of the Field.
I first die cut the lilies, several of them in fact, because I like to stamp these things in bulk with my Tim Holtz Stampling Platform. For the lilies, I used Lavender Moon, Lovely Lady, Lemon Tart, and Cocoa Bean. I then changed my mind on the center stems for one of them, and used Americana. You can see how that one is a little lighter than the other two. The stems were stamped with Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse. At this point I had about 10 of these lilies stamped and I was just playing with different combinations!
I really wanted to incorporate the new Shape Shifter series into the card. It laid a nice decorative background, and to bring it out a little more, I did a soft blend of Hawaiian Shores and Lovely Lady on the base. With the combination of the new sentiment set, Penned Elegance, I can easily place a sentiment next to my lilies. Where have these sentiments been all my life!
The Shape Shifter was laid directly on top fo my blended background, and then my background lilies. Then, I adhered my sentiment and foreground lilies with foam adheisve. As a final touch, I even added some crystal droplets to the card. I’m not much of a sequin gal, but I love adding these droplets when I make floral cards. It’s like morning dew.
Before I send you off, I wanted to let you know about today’s color challenge! As you know, as part of the 11th anniversary, we have fun challenges every day to give you even more opportunities to win $100 gift cards to the shop. Today, each of the design team’s card has been transformed into a color challenge, and I hope today’s color combination inspires you to create some dreamy floral cards. I am obsessed with soft colors, and especially for Spring! I made sure I used all my favorite colors for my color recipe. Hope you play along and enjoy!
