Welcome back to Countdown Day 4 of the My Favorite Things October Release! Birdie Brown brings us another timeless stamp set this month called Secret Santa and I’m sharing a project using this darling set today.
The characters really reminded of antique holiday cards, and I couldn’t help but add a little vintage features to the design by using some kraft and browning some edges. I stamped all my images with dark brown hybrid ink and colored them up with copic markers. I got a little extra creative with my white gel pen to not only add highlighting but also some additional patterns to the children’s clothes. The images were then die cut with the coordinating dies.
I blended a background using Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass, and Antique Linen distress oxide inks. I also wanted to frame the scene, so I used the largest size of the Linked Chain Oval Frames and die cut it from the center of an A2 sized white card stock. I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress oxide inks to add some browning to the edges of the card, inlaid the chain oval frame back in and adhered it to my blended background.
For my sentiment, I heat embossed a sentiment from the Secret Santa set in white onto kraft card stock. This was then die cut out with the Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strip. I also added a little brown edging to it with Vintage Photo distress oxide ink. And finally, I added all my images and the sentiment strip to teh card with foam tape.
