My Favorite Things

MFT November 2018 Hits & Highlights

It’s time for Hits & Highlights with My Favorite Things! This is when the team whips up some cards with a specific monthly theme, and this month we’re bringing you a Cool Christmas. With Christmas right ahead of us, most of us are in full holiday swing, bringing out the holiday decorations, starting to knock on items on the Christmas shopping list, and day dreaming about the holiday vacation!

Today we are focused on bringing you the feel of winter to your holiday cardmaking by creating with a cool palette!

I’m sure you came over to my blog to find something cute, so of course with a winter cold scene in mind, I had to bring out some penguins, cause no one knows the cold better than these winter critters! These penguins are from the Stacey Yacula set called Sweet Holiday Penguins. I stamped the images in Milk Chocolate hybrid ink and colored them with copic markers. Then I die cut the images out with their coordinating dies.

Next, it’s time to blend me a beautiful winter scene! I used the Drifts & Hills stencil to create the layers of snowy hills, and blended it with Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink. I love how using the stencil reduces a lot of bulk to the card. In the top portion, I blended Faded Jeans and Tumbled Glass distress oxide inks, and generously splattered white acrylic paint for snow.

I chose to use the beautifully written sentiment set called Hand-Lettered Holiday Greetings. I stamped the ‘happy holidays’ in Versamark ink and heat embossed it white. Then, I added all my penguins to the scene with foam squares. This card is just packed full of cuteness and h27ope this sends some winter inspiration your way!
