I’m on the Mama Elephant blog today for my Designer Series post and I’ve got a fun project to share with you. I love, love, love the February release and you know you do when you just have ideas flowing through you nonstop! I love this Jar Shaker Creative Cut. It’s large size make for fun shaker shape card, and I thought to contain space in a bottle! The Little Fairy Agenda also add the perfect touch to the scene.
So, let’s take a look at how it was all made. The Jar Shaker die comes with both the outer frame and the inner frame, used together as a frame, or separate to die cut the jar shaped base card. I folded a piece of white card stock in half and ran it through the die cutting machine with the outer frame, leaving just a small top edge uncut. Then, I die cut the entire outer frame again out of white card stock and added it to the front panel.
On a separate piece of white card stock, I ink blended a galaxy sky with distress oxide inks. I made this video a long time ago that shows how to create a galaxy background if you need more details! I die cut the combined outer and inner frame of the jar out of the galaxy background, and again on a piece of craft foam. I die cut the outer frame out of acetate, and the top of the jar piece out of silver glitter card stock. Now we have all our pieces for the jar shaped shaker!
Before I assembled the shaker, I heat embossed the sentiment onto the background. This sentiment is from Space Bears. In the following order, I sealed the shaker part of the card: base, inner galaxy, craft foam frame, add sequins, acetate, galaxy frame, and silver glitter top.
I then added some little fairy agenda to it. They were stamped in a dark brown hybrid ink, colored with copics, and die cut with the coordinating dies. I added them to the top layer of the card with foam squares.
Then you gotta shake, shake, shake! My favorite part of making a shaker card is watching all the pretty shiny things shake inside. Hope you enjoyed the galactic inspiration today!
