Happy Friday! My favorite day of the week! I recently took a floral illustration class with Alli Koch, author of a popular book called Modern Florals. She released her second book called Florals by Hand in December 2018, and has been travelling around teaching classes as part of her book tour. I was lucky enough to attend one of her classes last Saturday, and learned so much about embracing the imperfections in drawing flowers. It’s hard cause we all love symmetry and perfect circles and all things even! And I think that is something that Flora & Fauna stamps really shines in their designs and brings out this funky, modern look.
For today’s project, I worked with the Flora & Fauna stamp set called Flower Garden. I immediately envisioned an outpouring of blooms coming out of that envelope when I first saw this stamp set, so I really took that idea and went with it onto this card.
I stamped the envelope in Pizza Crust dye ink in the left corner first and then started building out all the floral stamping from there. I used almost every image in this stamp set. Once that was done, I colored them up with copic markers in earthy but colorful tones. I also used my white gel pen to add detailing.
Once the coloring was done, I stamped my sentiment ‘hello friend’ to the bottom right corner. I ink blended the edge of each side with Vintage Photo distress oxide to give it that vintage modern look. Isn’t it so fun?
Have a beautiful weekend friends! I got so much in store for you for April, you won’t know what hit ya! See you soon!
