Hoppy Friday! Today is the day for the Waffle Flower Water Media Mat Instagram hop! Which means, you should hop along with us on Instagram here. However, I wanted to share more details and some reviews about working with this wonderful mat, so I am posting alongside it!
I had personally bought this adorable Hoppy set illustrated by Kamo a few months back when I caught on sale, and was excited to bring it out for the Spring/Easter season. This is such a cute set! I went for pastel colors, of course, primarily pinks, orange, purple, and greens. The images were stamped in a brown hybrid ink and colored with copic markers, then die cut with matching dies.
I usually love to ink blend backgrounds, but this time I decided to use the inks for some smooshing on the mat. I swipe each of the four ink pads across my mat, sprayed it with water using my distress sprayer, and laid an A2 sized watercolor paper right on top of it. I dragged it just slightly to make sure it got full coverage and let it dry.
I used the scenery die to die cut some cute cloudy stitched borders to frame off the area, and heat embossed the sentiment in silver in the bottom left corner. I added these borders to the top and bottom of the card with foam tape.
And finally I can add the bunnies! I always have a lot of fun figuring out the arrangement and how to create this playful atmosphere. Do you love the little bunny jumping extra high in the crowd? They are so adorable.
The water media mat is fantastic, and my favorite part was how easy it was to clean up with a baby wipe. I always leave a terrible mess after I create, but for once I was so excited to clean up the mess because it was so easy and so satisfying that there is no stain on the mat. Waffle Flower has been sharing multiple ways of using the mat on their Youtube channel, so be sure to check it out. They have some really ingenious ideas that will really blow your mind!
As mentioned earlier, the giveaway is part of the Instagram hop, so be sure to head over there, tag some friends for a chance to win your own Water Media Mat. There’s also $15 gift certificates given out on each Instagram post, so don’t miss it!
