Recently I had tried out a new to me medium called Colorstick Gel Crayons from Jane Davenport, which felt like I was coloring with lip stick! The colors are incredibly vibrant and quite different in style from what I’m used to, but it was very fun to experiment and to work with with Jane Davenport‘s artsy designs and unique coloring mediums.
The New Artomology by Jane Davenport collection is beautiful. Her products carry a loose and abstract style, and I worked with her products in that mindset but with my own style. When I swatched the Colorstick Gel Crayons I was able to easily get strong vibrant colors. I started blending various colors in rainbow order directly onto a piece of watercolor paper. I then used a wet brush to further blend the colors as this medium is water is soluble.
After that piece dried, I used Marcia’s Makeover Etched Dies to die cut this beautiful girl outline image. I had originally wanted to inlay a white outline of her with the rainbow cuts, but I instead found the outline even more beautiful to work with! I created a softer watercolor-like look behind her by drawing the Colorstick Gel Crayons on the side and picking up the color with my water brush to paint. I also used it to add splatter.
The sentiment is from the Colour is Happiness clear stamp. I stamped this directly onto the background with Onyx Black Versafine ink, then again the exact same position after I adhered the die cut to the card. Finally, I used some of the small floral dies from Marcia’s Makeover Etched Dies to die cut a few flowers for her hair. I added Nuvo Dream Drops Fairy Wings to the center of the flower and a few drops around her hair. Colour is happiness!
So gorgeous!!
Thank you so much!!
