The Greetery June Release: Simple Things Are The Best Things

Happy Monday ya’ll! I’m so, so excited to start sharing my projects for The Greetery June Release. I’m not great at keeping secrets and oh man, was this one was a toughy! I have two projects to share today, and if I had more time, I would have made so much more because these stamps are so inspiring to create with.

This first card showcases the Summer Sketches set which is an incredibly versatile set for various creative styles. It has outlines for coloring or layers for stamping, or combined for a beautiful “sketchy” look. Since I use copic markers so much, I thought I’d share with you a copic colored example!

I die cut the shapes first, then stamped the images in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in gold. Remember that these lines are sketchy, which means be free with your coloring and it’s okay to color outside the lines. Follow the direction of the flower or petal and you’re good to go.

These flowers are gorgeous and with double of them stacked to make an elongated bouquet, I wanted a very simple and clean white background. But for interest, I did use a wave texture die to add some stitching pattern in the background. I heat embossed the sentiment ‘Happy Birthday’ from the new Sentiment Suite set vertically in the bottom right corner in gold.

The florals were assembled in layers, some directly onto the background and some with foam tape. I then completed it by adding some final embellishments with Nuvo Mustard Gold Crystal Drops. The shine in the light is glorious!

My next card uses the new set Simple Things which features layered images of various eucalyptus stems. Although eucalyptus are often times identified as fillers in a bouquet, they are definitely the star of this one! You’ll also spot a small stem of small flowers from Fleur Impressions as well as a beautiful mason jar from the Just Mason Around set that will be revealed in more detail tomorrow.

My images were stamped in the following colors:

They were then die cut with their matching dies. I like to assemble my flowers with some washi taped behind it before I start to use adhesive to glue them down. Once that was done, I was ready to set it aside and work on the background.

The background was ink blended with Tattered Rose and Coral Bliss, the same colors I used on the little flowers. I then stamped the sentiment from the Simple Things set in the bottom right corner. I did do a little masking to get the words ‘simple things’ in two separate lines. Then, this background panel was die cut with an A2 sized stitched die.

I added my bouquet to the card last and used my paper trimmer to cut off any stems off the edges. I’m still in awe at how realistic that mason jar looks!

Well, that may be it for me today, but there’s so much more to share with you for the rest of the week. Be sure to stop by The Greetery blog and other fabulous designersbelow for more inspiration!
