My first Christmas card of the year! The Winter Holiday cardmaking usually starts in July for me as that’s when some Christmas in July themed releases tend to come out. However, it’s always great to get a head start on these as somehow we always end up procrastinating and rushing it in December! Today’s card features the new Waffle Flower set called Oversized Merry.
And the die cut word ‘merry’ is truly oversized! It covers the length of a landscape oriented A2 size card. I love using gold especially with my holiday cards. The oversized merry was die cut out of Welsh Gold Glitter Card, which is so very sparkly. I die cut the word three more times out of white card stock and layered it beneath it.
The background came out really well and it was inspired by the new die called Horizontal Stripes Die. I first heat embossed the white card stock with snowflakes from the Oversized Merry stamp set in gold. Then, I ran this panel through the die cutting machine using the Horizontal Stripes Die which easily gave me all these even strips. On each strip, I randomly picked a green or red distress oxide ink to blend in. The more variations of these colors, the more interesting the background will be, so use whatever you have!
Then, I assembled each strip like a puzzle back together, then added the merry across it. And lastly I heat embossed the word ‘christmas’ from the Oversized Merry set onto Neenah desert storm card stock, trimmed it down to a strip and added it just below merry. I love this card and it was completed in a reasonable time (not my usual 2-3 hour cards!). Hope this inspires you to kickstart your holiday cardmaking. You’ll be seeing more holiday cards pop up more frequently soon!
SO pretty and festive!!
I love the Merry card. How can I order from you or where can I order these item?
