The Mama Elephant Pine and Posy stamp set features a beautiful winter foliage landscape with beautiful detailed greeneries and pine cones. Since the image has such small details to work with, I brought out my colored pencils to help me with get additional shading in areas my copic markers struggles with. I also found it much easier on my hands and eyes.
I started by stamping the image in a dark brown hybrid ink and colored it all with my copic markers first. Then I used my colored pencils to add shading in the tight spaces, not the whole image. I highly recommend when doing this to start with a light touch and add more layers if you find the need to deepen the color.
Once all my coloring was done, I die cut the image out with the coordinating die cuts, and set it aside to work on the background.
My background is ink blended with Aged Mahogany and Tea Dye distress oxide ink. I then added a thin white border frame that I die cut using the Postage Tags creative cuts. I used the large sentiments from Happy Chic Wishes. This sentiment is two part. I stamped the large ‘happy’ first directly onto the background ink a dark brown ink. Then I stamped the thin cursive portion across the center with Versamark ink, covered it with gold embossing powder, tapped off the excess, and heat set it with my heat gun.
My last step was to add the pine and posy image to the card with the bottom edge aligned with foam tape. I trimmed off any excess hanging off the edge and mounted it to an A2 horizontal top fold white base card.
So very pretty!!
