Mama Elephant

Mama Elephant It’s Penguining to Look Like Halloween!

Soooo….raise your hand if you’re not ready to craft for the winter holidays? Me!! I love crafting for the holidays, but sometimes working on projects 3-4 months ahead can feel a little trippy! When I walk out of the house, I see my neighbors putting up Halloween decorations. So, I couldn’t help but take a break from my designer duties, take a step back, and procraftinate with some Halloween inspiration!

I really love the Mama Elephant Favor Bag Accessory (“FBA”) Creative Cuts! They are so cute, and even though they may be designed to coordinat with the FBA bag, they make really cute cards too and really cool shaped cards since they are so large! Well, when the FBA Penguin CC was released in September, I had this idea stuck in my head to give him a pumpkin costume, and I just had to bring this idea to life before Halloween!

I combined the FBA Penguin with FBA Pumpkin. Aside from using the relevant card stock colors to die cut these pieces out, I also added some gentle shading with distress oxides and some light paint splatter for texture. The little blush in his cheeks were also added with distress oxide inks. The pumpkin was “cut” open with the Puffy Clouds CC, so that the penguin can sit in it. I made the top piece of it as a little hat for him!

The background remained simple with a purple to pink ink blended sky and the ground was die cut with the Grassy Trio CC. To add a little extra Halloween flavor to the background, I also used the PPP Spider Web Stencil to add that extra embellishment in the top left corner with white pigment ink. The sentiment ‘Boo to you!’ is from the Meowlloween stamp set and heat embossed in white in the top right corner.

Isn’t he SO cute?! I love a cute Halloween card! Who said Halloween has to be a scary time of year? I hope you enjoy this little bit of break from the holiday inspiration and hope I can find some more free time to make some random projects cause it was so much fun to create this!
