Flora & Fauna

Flora & Fauna Fa La La La La

Do you like to work with traditional or non-traditional colors when working on your holiday cards? Generally I feel a lot more inspired working with traditional colors, but I decided to take the same design and create in both ways to share the different look you can get!

For my cards, I used the stamped images from Flora & Fauna Brush Poinsettia stamp set to create the layout of my card. I used the pine leaves to stamp all around the card with varying intensity of inks. For my traditional colors, I used Altenew dye inks Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, and Evergreen. Then, I used my watercolors to add a gentle splatter of green paint.

I trimmed down the panel to a 4″ x 5.25″ size just smaller than an A2 card and heat embossed the ‘fa la la’ sentiment in the center. I mounted this piece over craft foam onto the white A2 base card, and then added Nuvo Postbox Red Vintage Drops and Pinkfresh Studio White Jewels to the card.

I took the same layout once again and this time took a non-holiday color spin to it! I was going for a turqouise, green, pink, and purple combo here. The purple was pretty light and pale so it didn’t pick up as well in the photos. For my ink colors, this time I used Altenew dye inks Lagoon, Emerald, Frayed Leaf,  Ocean Waves, and Soft Lilac.

This time I heat embossed the ‘fa la la’ sentiment in a matching soft turoquise color, using the Nuvo Embossing Powder Cool Jade. I picked out the Nuvo Enchanting Pink Glitter Drops and Pinkfresh Studio purple jewels for my berries to complete the card. You can definitely reuse this layout in many more other fun color combos too!
