Altenew Build-A-Flower: Lavender Release Blog Hop

Hello November! A new month also means a new Altenew Build-A-Flower set and this month it’s all about Lavender! Lavender is one of my favorite flowers (right behind peonies). Did you know that lavender is not only beautiful and smell lovely, but have incredible healing properties too? I used to drink lavender tea to help with my headaches and it’s supposed to provide a calming and soothing effect too!

I relate lavenders to something comforting, and so it made sense for me to use lavenders to create a sympathy type card. With layering stamp sets like these where there are multiple section of one image, I like to stamp the most intricate part first, in this case, the stem. Here I used Bamboo, Parrot, and Moss Altenew dye inks. Then, I die cut the image with the matching dies.

Now I stamped the second part of the image, the flowers. For the layers, I used Wisteria, Hydrangea, Ultraviolet and Andromeda Altenew dye inks. The details these layers provide are gorgeous! I created a simple watercolor background for two stems of lavender that I added with foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment ‘sending hugs’ from this stamp set in black along the background vertically. I finished the card off with some light splatter with my watercolor paints to give it some movement and interest.
