Altenew’s got gradient cardstock sets now? Yaaaaaas! I love having coordinated inks and card stock. Altenew dye inks are pretty much the only inks I use, so adding anything coordinated to those just adds more versatility to what I already own and I love that! This is their first release of these gradient card stock sets and I can’t wait to see more collections added as time goes on. But let’s focus on the now and check out the colors they now offer today!
There are a total of SIX sets release today and they are named exactly the same as the ink sets: Red Cosmos, Cherry Blossom, Shades of Purple, Sea Shore, Green Meadows, and Summer Afternoon. They are already sized down to 3″ x 6″ so that you can use it with the Mini Blossom Die Cutting Machine (or any die cutting machine you own). I normally cut my cardstock into smaller pieces before die cutting, so this saved me a step!
As you can expect, the gradient cardstock makes it perfect for work with layered die cut! For my first card, I will showcasing these card stock colors with the Garden Picks 3D Die set, one of my favorite layered die cut sets. The details on the roses are just gorgeous! Here I used the Shades of Purple gradient cardstock to build my roses out of, and the Green Meadows gradient card stock for the leaves. I’ve also used the Summer Afternoon gradient cardstock for the smaller flowers and the rose center.
I like to add a little texture to my die cuts by gently adding some paint splatter. You can use any paint for this, but I happen to have the Altenew Watercolor Pan Set that already have coordinated colors used here, so I used that here to add the speckles of purple on my roses. I used white acrylic paint of the white speckles.
I wanted to position my floral arrangement on the left side of the card, so to accompany this layout I created a simple ink blended background coming from the left. I used Victorian Velvet and Milled Lavender distress oxide inks for my ink blending, and then die cut this panel to with a rectangle die just slightly smaller than the A2 card size. I stamped the sentiment directly on the background in a dark brown and added my die cut floral arrangement right next to it to complete the card.
This next card is another example of the layered die cut and gradient card stock in action. This time I am using the Rose Flurries 3D Die set. My flowers were created with the Red Cosmos and Summer Afternoon gradient cardstock, and my leaves were created with Green Meadows gradient cardstock. Once again, I took out my Altenew Watercolor Pan Set to add some paint splatter textures to my die cuts for interest after layering it all together.
I went for a clean and simple look with lots of white. I used the Cozy Flannel Cover Die on white card stock. Behind it I lightly blended some Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink approximately where my roses are to give it just a slight glow behind it and a little definition against this white on white cozy flannel pattern.
I picked out a simple sentiment and heat embossed it in gold onto white card stock. I trimmed it down to a thin strip and added it below my flowers.
My last card showcases the Sea Shore Gradient Cardstock Set. This card is a little more unique in that I did not use layer any die cuts with my cardstock, but rather is it as a way to create a gradient background. If you follow me, you know ho much I love to create ink blended gradient backgrounds, so this is my way of doing so with just some die cut solid images!
I used the leaf shapes in the Fantasy Floral 3D Die setĀ and die cut at least two leaves in each gradient cardstock color. On a piece of white card stock, I glued down these leaves going from the darkest shade at the bottom to the lightest shade at the top. I then used the Altenew Watercolor Pan SetĀ to add some like color splatters for texture.
On a separate piece of white card stock, I cut out a rectangular window that will display the gradient foliage. Along the edge, I added a this pretty floral image from the Poppy Garden stamp set. This image was heat embossed in silver and colored with copic markers, then die cut the matching dies. I added a simple sentiment heat embossed in white onto the darkest shade of theĀ Sea Shore Gradient Cardstock Set, trimmed it down to a thin strip and added it to the bottom.
