The Waffle Flower June Release is now available! This month we’ve packed in a lot of ocean themed products as well as some additional nesting basics. You betcha it’s time to showcase some fun ocean scenic cards…are ya ready?!
This first card showcases the Mermaid Mail Combo illustrated by Cassie Loizeaux, and the Under Sea Sentiments by JJ Bolton. The whimsical illustration in this set lends for lots of scene building material and look at the cute details in the mermaid hair! I stamped and copic colored all the images and used the matching dies to die cut all the images out.
The scene was fully ink blended with distress oxide inks and the sentiment is heat embossed in silver onto white card stock. I love these sentiment set, which not only goes so well with all the ocean-themed sets released this month, but really any ocean themed products you own! I die cut the sentiment out with the Nesting A2 Banners Die and added it to the top left.
This next project features the Sea Birthday Combo illustrated by Big Bear & Bird. I was so excited for this set as I’ve seen many of her adorable oceanic animal paintings on Instagram and that many of them made it into this stamp set! Once again, I stamped and copic colored the images, then die cut with the matching dies.
I used the Under the Sea Panel Die to assist me in the building the scene. With this die, I was able to separately ink blend each area of the scene and the frame allowed me to sneak in a layer of glitter that I encased with a layer of acetate. Adds a fun glittery interest to the card without the bulk! Once again, I reached for the Under the Sea Sentiments set, heat embossed it in white.
Another exciting product this month is the Nesting Slim Layers die, which is a great staple to have for those of you who love creating these slim sized cards (3.5″ by 8.5″). I have really caught on to these longer cards for scene building and love having the extra space.
I love this pirate octopus from Sea Birthday Combo so much! I had to make sure it made it onto a card, so I brought out the set again here along with the Under the Sea Sentiments. I used the Nesting Slim Layers die to die cut the background so that I have just a slim border around my scene.
This month we’ve added a new oversized sentiment set called Oversized Hugs Combo. These sentiment sets have been a hit and great staples in cardmaking. Much like the others the combo comes with a large die cut word paired with a stamp set that has various matching phrases to go with it.
I used the new Nesting Stars die here to create this die cut background out of white card stock. I ink blended a piece of white card stock with Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, and Blueprint Sketch distress oxide inks which laid behind this starry die cut background. I added the large ‘hugs’ also ink blended in the center, followed by part two of the sentiment heat embossed in white on black, trimmed to a thin strip and added just below the ‘hugs. The dimensions on this card is beautiful in perso
