Papertrey Ink

PTI Feature: Ivy & Bloom

Happy Monday ya’ll! Now that all the Papertrey Ink May Release products are available now, it’s time to showcase some more products each day to give you guys some more ideas and maybe help out what you want to keep or add to your shopping cart! Today I will be sharing with you a project using the Ivy & Bloom dies.

This is a gorgeous set, and it comes with these beautiful leaf frame that I really want to try some blending and wet brushing technique on. I first adhered some double sided adhesive sheet to a piece of watercolor paper and die cut the frame out. Then I adhered right onto another piece of watercolor paper.

Next, I blended on Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean distress ink, alternating right onto the panel. Since the leaves are sligtly elevated, it automatically picks up a little more color when you blend. Dye inks work too, but since we’re going to add water to create this watercolor look, the distress inks react a little better and loosens. I brushed water across the leaves to create this “mess.” I finished with splatter.Although the set does come with a sweet birthday wishes sentiment, I wanted to use something with more brushlike font to match the messy watercolor frame, so I used the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from Pen & Ink that was released last month, and heat embossed it in silver. The nice big font filled up the center just like I hoped for. Thanks for joining me today, and hope to see you tomorrow!
