Hello! And welcome to my stop in the Spellbinders Blog Hop for the Die D-Lites & Thoughtful Expressions by Marisa Jobs! I am thrilled to be sharing a project with her recent products, which has a beautiful leafy theme to them. I love all the details!
I was especially in love with the Moasic Vine, so I knew it was going to be the star of my card. I started by die cutting a rectangular window using the Layers of Flowers dies. Clearly, any rectangular die would have worked to create a window, but I happen to had these near me and the panel was just the right size to have the vines grow in and around it.
I die cut the vines twice out of watercolor card stock. Then, I adding some watercolor to them. I decided to randomly choose which leaves I wanted to pop out the little die cut details. I figured if I kept some of them in, I would have more color on them. For one of the vines, I did some pruning as I laid them out on the window to see how much coverage I needed. Then, I set them aside for later assembly.
Next, I did some blending on a back panel out of bristol paper. I used Broken China and Cracked Pistachio distress oxide inks. I wanted to use calming colors to pair up with the sentiment I planned to use.
I heat embossed the sentiment ‘take time to relax’ from the Papertrey Ink Inifinity Frames Sentiment stamp set. Love this set. It’s filled with so many options and the font have even height, which makes it great for sentiments that I trim to a strip. To give it a little extra decoration, I die cut another strip out of black striped pattern paper of the same width. I gave them both a slant cut and adhered them to the top corner of the card.
I added a little splatter with the same watercolors I used on the leaf. As you may be able to see, the top panel is also propped up with foam tape for depth and gives some room.
As part of this hop, Spellbinders will also be sponsoring a little giveaway here for a $25 gift certificate! Please leave a comment on my blog by Sunday, January 21st 11:59 pm EDT for a chance to win. The winners will be announced here on Monday, January 22nd.
Thank you for stopping by and hope you continue to enjoy the hop!
