My Favorite Things

MFT November Release Countdown Day 1

Yahoo! Less than 24 hours before the My Favorite Things November Release is finally live! You may recall some of the gorgeous projects from the October monthly kit called Snowflake Splendor. If you missed out on the kit, or have been waiting for the individual sets to release, you’ll finally find them as part of the November Release collection.

My project today features the Die-namics Layered Snowflakes and Die-namics Peace. These snowflakes are absolutely gorgeos, and although I didn’t use the layered feature of this set in my project today, many of my design team members have showcased this cool look very well, so be sure to check those out. I however, wanted to show you how cool it was to use the details of the snowflakes to showcase a colorful underlayer.

I started with the watercoloring, using Worn Lipstick, Salty Ocean, and Peacock Feathers distress inks. I used the various colors across the entire A2 sized piece of watercolor paper. Then, on a white card stock, I started by die cutting the large PEACE words. From there, I started arranging the various snowflakes and die cutting them out.

Be careful not to lose any of the pieces! We’ll need them for layer. Once all your snowflakes are die cut, I then used a lot of mini foam squares to the panel. This allowed me to create the depth I wanted to see between the underlayer and the top die cut layer.

And finally, for each of the snowflakes, I cleaned up any inside cuts that needed to be punched out, and then gently warped the edges. Then I added some adheisve to the center of the snowflake and adhered them back in place. Now I can see the underlayer colors show through the snowflakes! Isn’t it beautiful?

Be sure to continue following us through the countdown on the MFT Blog for more release content and projects from participating design team members. All release products will be available Tuesday, November 7 at 9pm EST in the MFT Store.

Cheers,
