Welcome back! We’re now onto the My Favorite Things February Release Countdown Day 4, and I’m so excited (as I always am!) to share with you this month’s newest Birdie Brown set called BB Birthday Chicks. I think this has definitely become one of my favorite sets. These chicks are wayyyy too adorable!
This month’s set is a 4″ x 6″ sheet, rather than usual larger sets, but it’s still packed with so many variations of these little cute chicks. Along with the release of these birthday chicks is also the new Die-namics Collage Cover-up, which of course have the perfect sized windows to fit all these little chicks. If you recall a previous Birdie Brown set called BB Bitty Bears, I can definitely see that has a perfect option to pair this cover-up dies with also. Plenty of options!
So let’s get started on the details of today’s card. I stamped all my images with Milk Chocolate hybrid ink and colored them with copic markers. I used a white gel pen for some highlights, and then die cut everything with the coordinating Die-namics. There are a total of 7 different chicks, and I captured 6 of those all on this card. I especially love the big one with the little chick standing on top of him.
Next, it’s all about the cover-up. I love using cover-ups because, well, they cover up the entire card! Which means the layout is pretty much set for you, and you just got to fill it in with some color. The large rectangular area was a good size to fit my sentiment so I knew that’s what I wanted to do immediately, and then for the remainder I wanted to fill it up with some chicks. So, I die cut the cover-up out of white card stock. For each individual inner piece, had some fun adding alternating colors, using Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, and Wilted Violet distress oxide inks, which I blended on in ombre fashion with my mini ink blending tool. Unintentionally, I didn’t realize I picked out Peeps colors! I must be ready for Easter already.
I heat embossed the sentiment in silver in the large rectangle. Then laid down my collage cover-up onto my base card with foam tape. Next, I inlaid each of the pieces in, and finally finished it up with the chicks by adhering them with foam tape. All done! Ack, so cute! I can stare at this all day!
