Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! It’s the day after Christmas and if you’re ready for it, it’s tine to play with the new My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge. This week’s challenge 417 is really fun, and also a great time to finally switch gears out of the holidays.
If you happen to own the Die-namics Gift Box Cover-Up you’ll probably find it pretty handy for this sketch. However, if you don’t, hopefully my interpretation of the skills can open up some ideas!
Many of you own some sort of STAX or similar type die set, and those small frames come in handy in this week’s sketch to create the four rectangular grids! I actually grabbed the first ones I could find in my stash, and used the Die-namics Single Stitch Line Tag-Corner Rectangle. I used the smallest one to die cut the frames four times out of white card stock. In each inner piece, I blended Candied Apple and Tattered Rose distress oxide inks.
For the images used on this card, I pulled out the BB I Knead You stamp set. It’s an older set, but nonetheless still so cute, and thought to bring it out for this sketch. I stamped the images in a Milk Chocolate hybrid ink and then colored them with copic markers. Then, I used the coordinating Die-namics to die cut all the images out. I had enough cats colored for each little rectangle.
I decided to add the rectangles onto a black and white polka dot background that came from the Black & White Basics Paper Pack. Then, I heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set onto a piece of kraft card stock, and trimmed it down to a thin strip. I added this the center line of the card.
I really love this layout! It offers a lot of opportunity to add a lot of colored images, and the design is very clean and simple. I can definitely foresee using this layout with many different combination of products. Hope this inspires you to join us in this week’s challenge!
The is SO cute!
