My Favorite Things

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 434

This week I’m bringing you some inspiration for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge 434! It’s been a little while since I last participated, but I always enjoy playing along. I found this week to be an interesting sketch, and at first glance, I wasn’t sure what to do. But as I started brainstorming, I realize it was a great layout to add some floral elements to the card.

These large beautiful flowers are from the Brilliant Blooms stamp set. I had originally stamped and started copic coloring, but then realized it would look gorgeous watercolored so I started over. I decided to heat emboss the flower and leaves in gold and then used my Arteza Real Brush Pens to add color. I just bought these watercolor brushes recently on Amazon and love them! I actually like the colors I get from them more than my Kuretake Zig Clean Color Watercolor Brush Pens.

So after the paints dried, I was ready to die cut them out the coordinating dies. On a piece of bristol paper, I ink blended the corners with Bundled Sage distress oxides to align with the placements of the flowers.

My last step was to add the sentiment. I heat embossed the words ‘sending some love’ from the From the Heart stamp set in white onto Gravel Gray card stock and die cut it out using the Stitched Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

I added my flowers and leaves to the card with foam tape, and the sentiment strip right over the bottom flower. I had originally planned to trim off pieces that hung off the edge, but I kinda liked it like this! So I kept it, and will just have to mail the card in a larger sized envelope, maybe A7 one. Hope this inspires you to join us in this week’s challenge!
