Happy Friday! I have an adorable card to share with you today featuring some Tonic Studios products! Tonic introduced their Adorables line recently and as you can probably guess, they are absolutely the cutest. My favorite one in this collection is Sammy Takes It Easy and so I have picked out this set to feature in today’s project. In addition, this was also my first time working with the Nuvo Marker Pen Collection which was pleasantly easy to use and blend with!
I stamped all the sloths and various floral and foliage images all from the stamp set in Acorn Brown hybrid ink. Then I colored each image with the Nuvo Marker Pen Collection as follows:
- Sloths: (coat) 472 Garlic Clove, 478 Brown Sugar, 464 Coconut Shell; (face) 473 Sweet Vanilla, 477 Sand Castle, 449 Delicate Rose
- Large Leaves: 410 Perisan Lime, 412 Pea Pod, 416 Vine Leaf
- Small Leaves: 413 Bamboo Leaf, 415 Pine Grove
- Flower: 373 Pink Grapefruit, 374 Tiger Lily, 375 Plum Tomato
- Branch: 478 Brown Sugar, 477 Sand Castle, 473 Sweet Vanilla
I didn’t really extend past each marker pen collection when choosing my colors to blend, so it is super easy to know what colors work well together. As a frequent copic marker user, I thought the Tonic alcohol markers had vibrant colors and was easy to work with. At approximately 1/4 of the cost of copic markers, I think they are of great value and definitely an excellent option if you don’t foresee yourself spending the investment on copic markers.
Since these sloths are each holding onto a tree branch, I wanted to give them a platform to hang from so I die cut a rectangle frame using the Mixed Scalloped & Straight Edge Rectangle Layering Die Set. I die cut the frame four times and layered them together for thickness. Next, I blended a soft background using Mint Macaroon hybrid ink for the top half and Lime Burst hybrid ink for the bottom half. I picked up some similar watercolors and added a gentle touch of splatter for interest.
One last time before assembly is to stamp the sentiment. I picked up these two lines of sentiment from the stamp set and stamped it in the center with Acorn Brown hybrid ink. Thereafter, I added the frame to the background and the sloths and foliage all around it with foam tape. And finally, I used the Soft Mint Nuvo Crystol Drops to add a small drop in the center of each flower.
Aren’t these sloths so cute? As you can probably expect the rest of the Adorables line is just as precious, so be sure to check them all out!
