Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight: Cherry Blossom Branch

This month Anna Osvald illustrated a gorgeous set with Mama Elephant this month called Cherry Blossom Branch. I am always blown away by the details of her floral illustrations! Cherry blossoms are one of my favorite flowers, right behind poppies, and I have always wished I could visit Japan during the cherry blossom season in early April. I heard it is absolutely beautiful and something I hope to experience one day! But for now I can do dream and create a scene of these beautiful cherry blossoms blowing in the wind.

I stamped the branch, flowers, and extra petals from the Cherry Blossom Branch set and colored it with copic markers. I also stamped little birds from the set Birdie Wreath and color them with copic markers as well. All images were die cut with their matching dies.

I created a simple cloudy ink blended sky by using a cloud stencil, blending brush, and Broken China distress oxide ink. I also stamped the sentiment ‘oh happy day!’ from Picnic with Friends directly onto the background.

I really like adding dimension to my images so I carefully added thin strips of foam adheisve behind the cherry blossom branch, flowers, and little petals when adding it to my scene. I added the birds to the branch thereafer and finished the card!
