The Holiday crafting continues! Just as promised, I spent more time playing with my Purple Onion Designs Pine Cone Trail collection and decided to make some snowy scenes today! Creating scene cards is what got me into cardmaking and I think it’s been a little while since I made a full card front scene and the cute stamps from Pine Cone Trail were perfect to get the creative juices going.
The Pine Cone Trail collection has several large sized scene stamps and the one I played with is called Frozen Pond. It stamps across the full horizontal length of a A2 sized card. After I stamped it, I also stamped it again on a large post-it to create a mask. I masked off the area below the top edge of the snow that I can ink blend the sky with Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, and Tumbled Glass distress oxide inks.
The previously masked area of the scene was then colored with copic markers, and then I generously splatted white paint to create the snow. I also stamped and colored several images including Iclyn (hockey bunny), Storm (hockey penguin), Aspen (owl), and Erica (hedgehog). They were colored with copic markers and fussy cut out. These cute winter critters were added to build a playful scene on ice.
The sentiment used here is from Warming Winter Thoughts. I heat embossed it in white onto Neenah Desert Storm card stock and created a simple wide fishtail banner with my paper trimmer and scissors. I added this to the top left with foam tape to complete the card.
I loved how the first card turned out so much that I decided to use it again on a different combination of cute critters. I used the exact same technique as above (masking, ink blending, coloring), however this time I stamped the background twice across a vertical A2 card panel.
The adorable critters used here were Arthur (ice fishing polar bear) and Wren (winter bird with fishing net). I colored them with copic markers and fussy cut the images out.
Since I had a nice area below the bear fo a sentiment, I stamped it directly onto the background. This sentiment is from Essential Holiday Greetings.
