Is this a belated or a very early holiday card? You decide! One of my goals this year (and I started doing this early in December) was to start using my personal crafty stash and make some more cards! I’ve been really slowing down on my commitments as of late to give myself some breathing room and to just enjoy and play along, like many of you, in using some of my unused products that I’ve been collecting and buying, mixing and matching different company products, and even have a little fun with some challenges from time to time. I spotted the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 67 a few weeks ago and started to pull some of my recently purchased Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to join in on the fun!
I bought the Double Slider Surprise die quite a long time ago and never had the time to take it out to use it, but I have really seen a lot of amazing cards out there using it, and I have really wanted to give it a go for a long time! And I finally did to build this cute winter scene with the Mice on Ice.
I watched Kelly’s how-to video for the double slider surprise a few times, but once I had things assembled, it wasn’t bad at all! I felt like I could definitely use this die over and over again even though I was initially intimidated. So, if you want to learn to use this die, I highly suggested dropping by the Lawn Fawn youtube channel for detailed video instructions.
There are several layers to my scene, including an ink blended background using distress oxide inks, a couple layers of stitched die cut snow, and a winter village scene created using the stamp set called Winter Village.
I colored several of the mice from Mice on Ice with copic markers. Since I didn’t own the coordinating dies, I did use my Scan n’ Cut here to cut out my images. Love that machine. I added a sentiment from Winter Village that was heat embossed in white onto some green card stock. I die cut it out using ME Sentiment Strips die.
I backed the assembled double slider onto a postal frame that I die cut using the Snail Mail CC out of white card stock and some green sweater pattern paper from Knit Picky Petite Paper Pack (retired). How fun is this extended scene? I keep finding myself opening and closing it after I finished the card!
I realized I’ve purchased quite a lot over the past couple of years and will be digging through them hopefully at least once a month to share some fun personal projects with you all. I’ve been working super duber hard behind the scenes this past week to get 2020 rolling. Be sure to check back soon! Happy New Year!
This is a really cute card. I hope I get to use the double slider soon too. You used a lovely color combination and the background looks like a nice winter day. maybe late for the holidays but great for january/the rest of winter. Habe a happy new year!
Hi Keeway! Iβm so happy for you that youβre creating some cards for yourself! Your scenes are always beautifully colored & designed. And your choice of PP is always spot on! I love this beauty!
