Concord & 9th: Autumn Leaf Feature Friday

Happy Friday! I’m excited to be joining Concord and 9th this month as part of their Feature Fridays to showcase their recent August Release of autumn themed products and their brand new line of watercolors! Today I’d like to introduce to the the Triple-Step Autumn Leaf Bundle and the Mix & Match Everyday Sayings.

Concord & 9th always comes out with the coolest multi-step stamps! The Triple-Step Autumn Leaf stamps up this beautiful leaf shaped image in three steps and I’ve used it here with their Concord & 9th premium dye inks to create a shaker card.

I did some light ink blending on the frame layer to really give this leaf a nice glow and focal point. The die cut sentiment you see here comes from the Heartfelt Blossoms Dies and perfect to overlay over this leaf. I added a few gems around it to complete the look.

My next card uses the Mix & Match Everyday Sentiments Bundle. Funny enough, this card design idea came from my attempt to create my original plan. I was in the middle of creating several different stamped versions of the sentiments to use to build phrases, and while I was stamping I just ended up really liking the sketchy look of inking so I thought, why not use it to enhance specific words in the block of words like a highlighter? So I decided to give it a try and I ended up really loving the simplicity of it!

I started by inking a few lines of text from the whole block using a lighter ink color first. Then while maintaining the position of my stamp (I was using a MISTI), I then took a darker ink color to carefully ink up just the words that I wanted to stamp out. I didn’t need to be even with it as the point was to make it a bit abstract…almost as if you ran it with a brayer.

I was also in the middle of testing out the liquid watercolors and was very impressed with how closely they matched the ink colors. I picked up a little bit of the watercolor with a brush and added splatter to my cards. (I promise I’ll share more projects using the watercolors than for just splattering…haha!)

This design worked out so well that I created a second one with a different color combination and phrase. I can make a whole collection of these with so much ease. Now go have a happy crafty weekend!!
