Welcome to the first edition of MFT and Friends featuring the April 2018 Release! This new monthly feature post has replaced our old Release Replays, and now even grander than before, we invite several of our talented friends to join us in featuring the latest release. The more, the merrier!
For today’s post, I decided to work with the mini Birdie Brown set called BB Puddle Jumper. This adorable set compliments the larger set, BB Rain or Shine, but it can definitely stand on its own as well! I also wanted to work in our new Die-namics Horizontal Collave Cover-Up. I love these things, because they add such a fun element to the card!
I begin with stamping my images from the BB Puddle Jumper and BB Rain or Shine sets in Chocolate Brown hybrid ink. Then I colored them all with copic markers. I decided to stick with neutral masculine tones for this card. Once I finished coloring, I die cut all the pieces with the coordinating Die-namics.
In lieu of creating a background scene, I used the Horizontal Collage Cover-Up. The pattern reminded me of quilting, so I decided to vary the squares with some plaid pattern paper, Cement Gray card stock, and also a few that I blended with Faded Jeans distress oxide ink. The frame was die cut out of white card stock, and craft foam, adhered together for the depth. I inlaid all the pieces back into the frame and added ink splatter across the background.
On white card stock, I heat embossed the sentiment in silver, and die cut a stitched fishtail strip. The stitching add a cute matching detail to the stitching within the little squares. I added all the pieces — images and the sentiment strip — to the card with little foam squares.
He is such a darling boy! I had tons of fun making this card, and hope it gives you a little inspiration to create! Thanks for joining me today, and be sure to visit all our friends linked over on the MFT Blog.
